German-Cypriot Forum Supports Campaign for the Demilitarization of
Nicosia
The German-Cypriot Forum (DZF) supports the campaign of the “New Cyprus
Party” for a demilitarized zone in Nicosia. In a support letter to the bi-communal
party, the DZF writes:
"The German-Cypriot Forum (DZF) welcomes and supports your party´s campaign
"A demilitarized Nicosia: In the process for a solution“. We share your
opinion that in the present phase of political stand still, confidence
building measures between the two parts of Cyprus are necessary. A campaign
for the creation of a demilitarized zone in Nicosia seems most appropriate
to overcome mistrust and tension between the communities.
Such a campaign could drive the two parts to seriously consider negotiating
the step by step dismantling military presence in Cyprus. At the same time,
it would pave the way for Nicosia to become a common city for all Cypriots
again. The aims of the „Masterplan“ for the historic old part of the capital
of Cyprus could at last be implemented.
The DZF will promote your initiative, which comes from the civil society, in
the EU in Brussels and in Germany. We hope that this campaign gets the
support it deserves and leads to a new climate toward a political solution.“
BKP GENÇLİK KOLLARI’NDAN “LEFKOŞA’NIN ASKERSİZLEŞTİRİLMESİNE” DESTEK
Lefkoşa, 4 Mart 06 (T.A.K.):-Birleşik Kıbrıs Partisi Gençlik Kolları,
Yeni Kıbrıs Partisi’nin başlattığı “Lefkoşa’nın askersizleştirilmesi”
kampanyasına destek belirtti.
BKP Gençlik Kolları Başkanı Abdullah Korkmazhan yazılı açıklamasında,
dünyada tek bölünmüş başkent Lefkoşa’nın kaldığını savunarak BKP Gençlik
Kolları olarak mayınlı arazilerin temizlenmesine hız verilmesi, duvarların
yıkılması ve Lefkoşa’nın askersizleştirilmesi yönündeki taleplerini dile
getirdi.
Korkmazhan, “BKP Gençlik Kolları Kıbrıs sorununa adil, kalıcı ve işlerliği
olan bir çözüm bulunması yönünde atılacak her adımda Kıbrıslıtürk,
Kıbrıslırum, Ermeni, Maronit ve Latin olsun tüm insanlarımızın barış ve
refah koşullarında yaşayacakları özgür, birleşik, egemen tüm askerlerden ve
silahlardan arındırılmış bir Kıbrıs için tüm ilerici ve demokratik gençlik
örgütlerini iş ve güç birliğine çağırmaktadır” dedi.
